Staff from Barclays Wealth raised over £6,000 for their Charity of the Year, Hospice Isle of Man, by taking part in the recent Parish Walk, with a further £4,000 going to a variety of other charities.
In glorious Manx weather the team of 51 Barclays Wealth walkers gathered at the National Sports Centre to start the 85 mile marathon trek. The course passes through every parish on the Isle of Man, with competitors' times recorded at each of the parish churches.
Of the 1,543 walkers who started this year, 159 completed the full 85 miles within the 24 hour allotted time. One of the finishers was Barclays Wealth service executive Andrew Corris who walked the course in 23 hours 39 minutes. The team wore special high-visibility vests which featured the Barclays Wealth and Hospice Isle of Man logos and between them walked a total of 1,837 miles!
As well as entering a team of walkers, Barclays Wealth also manned two refreshments stands to provide bottles of water, bananas and sweets to all competitors. Volunteers also set up a support crew to follow the team around the course in cars.
