Abacus helps to 'Break the Poo Taboo'

Donation made to Bowel Cancer IoM

A Douglas firm has made a donation which it hopes will 'Break the Poo Taboo'.

Fiduciary and fund services company Abacus has given almost £1,300 to Bowel Cancer Isle of Man, to help with its campaign to end the embarrassment of talking about the subject and make people more aware of the symptoms.

Chairman of BCIOM Heather Norman says the charity is overwhelmed with Abacus’ generosity and can’t thank them enough for choosing to support our charity.

She says with only five people on its committee currently (four of whom have full-time jobs), there are few resources for fundraising, so the charity relies heavily upon donations such as this to continue its work.

Senior Manager at Abacus Paul Swindale says the firm is delighted to support Bowel Cancer Isle of Man as its quarter charity.

He hopes the donation will go some way in helping them to continue providing invaluable information and local support to those on the Island affected by the disease.
