Robinson's Jay Gore named Employee of the Year 2024
A Manx fishmonger has been recognised for making 'a lasting impact on the Isle of Man Community' at a UK-wide awards ceremony.
Jay Gore, who's seafood and development manager at Robinson's, was named Employee of the Year 2024 at the event in Liverpool.
He's said to have had an 'extraordinary year' by implementing successful initiatives that transformed the business and enhanced customer service.
One of his achievements was securing a deal to buy the entire catch from local fishing boats, eliminating waste and ensuring the maximum returns for fishers.
Jay also played a key role in establishing an on-site butchery and the revamp of the Robinson's store on Cooil Road.
The Fish Market Manager, who has been with the company for 16 years, says: "It’s an incredible honour to receive this award. I love what I do, and to be recognised in this way means so much to me.
"I’d like to thank my colleagues and customers for their support. Our business wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredibly hard-working teams who brave all kinds of weather to supply the island with the freshest seafood possible.
"Being able to say that our produce has been caught and prepared fresh that morning is something truly rare elsewhere. We’re lucky to have this here on the Isle of Man, and it absolutely should be celebrated."
Robinson’s Managing Director, Janna Horsthius, says: "Jay is a true asset to our team. His hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication to our customers make a real difference every day.
"At Robinson’s, we are passionate about using our brand to support local farmers and producers wherever we can. Jay’s work embodies this commitment, and we are delighted to see his efforts recognised at a national level."
The award was presented at a gala event in Liverpool, where industry leaders gathered to celebrate excellence in wholesale and retail.
