Peel hit Saints for six

Peel issued a firm statement of intent to the rest of the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday.

They demolished title rivals St Mary’s 6-0 to maintain their 100 per cent record in the top flight and leave the Saints stunned.

In a largely one-way contest, Kerron Christian opened the scoring before two quick fire goals from Terry Rigaux just before half-time settled the encounter.

However, there was no let-up after the break with a Lee Gale double extending the home side’s advantage within the opening 15 minutes of the second half.

Daniel Bell grabbed the sixth on a day to remember for Peel.

St George’s remain a point clear after an 8-0 success at newly promoted Ayre United.

Sam Caine (two), Ciaran McNulty (two), Frank Jones, Chris Bass, Danny McMahon and Mark Teare were on target for the Geordies.

Laxey saw off the other newly promoted team in equally clinical fashion.

A Lee Cowley hat-trick and two from Jon Callow led an 8-2 romp against Douglas Royal.

Gary Williams, Ashley Webster and Fraser Vaughan netted the others for the Miners with Dave Skillen and Gareth Gawne scoring the Royal consolations.

Goals from Robbie Ward (two) and Liam Buckley secured in-form Old Boys a 3-1 win at Ramsey, for whom Jamie Moffitt scored a late goal.

The southern derby went the way of Rushen as they triumphed 2-0 at Castletown thanks to a goal in each half from Michael Baker and Aaron Hawley.

Michael look set for a long hard season after being defeated 3-1 at home by Corinthians.

Max Kneale, Chris Cannell and Lewis Thornton grabbed the goals with Kevin Pulman replying for Michael.
