Manx amputee player has recently recovered from long-term injury

Manx footballer Sean Jackson will represent England at next month's European Amputee Football Championships.

The Everton defender is among the 13-strong squad contesting the tournament from 1-9 June at Haute-Savoie in France.

In total, 16 nations will be involved with England to face Georgia, Italy and the Netherlands in the group stage.

Announcing his selection on social media, Jackson says he's 'beyond grateful' to those who've supported his journey to recent recovery, adding there are 'exciting times ahead.'

The player made his club debut with Everton in late January having missed the whole 2023 campaign due to a ruptured anterior talofibular ligament injury.

Previously he'd been named in the national squad for last year and before that also represented England at the 2022 World Amputee Football Cup.

England's opening game at the European championships will be against Georgia on Sunday, 2 June kicking-off at 2pm local time.
