Former Island resident and passenger lead world championship standings

Former Island resident Harry Payne and passenger Kevin Rousseau tasted double success during the latest round of the FIM Sidecar World Championship.

The duo took first place in both races in the second stage of the campaign at Sachsenring in Germany at the weekend (4-5 May).

For the opening 11-lap sprint race on the Saturday having qualified second, the Steinhausen Racing pairing snatched victory by one-tenth of a second ahead of Sam and Tom Christie.

Payne & Rousseau would then go on to take first spot in the following gold race the next day.

Previously scheduled to be held over 20 laps, the contest was concluded with five laps remaining due to a red flag incident.

Having won three of their first four races over the opening two weekends of the series, the crew lead the championship by three points ahead of 2021 champion Markus Schlosser and Luca Schmidt.

Round three will take place at Most in the Czech Republic in just under seven weeks time.
