Olivia Curran has been reflecting on the injury which has ruled her out of the Commonwealth games.
The 19-year-old gymnast has torn her anterior cruciate ligament.
The first ever female gymnast to qualify for the IOM team at the Commonwealth Games, Olivia is in a full-leg plaster cast and will need surgery when she returns to the Island.
She had deferred her university place to try and qualify for the games, training 30 hours per week to make the grade.
A clearly emotional Olivia spoke to Manx Radio at the welcome ceremony in the games village this afternoon:
FC Isle of Man to host play-off contenders Irlam
Hockey: Hopes more will take up 'important' non-playing roles in sport
Rugby: Table-topping Douglas head to West Park
Football: 2025 Railway Cup semi-finals await
