Manx side earn last-gasp one run victory at Cartama Oval

Crosby Cricket Club's maiden European Cricket League campaign has closed on a positive note after narrow victory over Austrian side Donaustadt last night (13 March).

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first at Cartama Oval in Malaga, the prominent batting displays from Crosby came through a combined 72 runs from Carl Hartmann (39) and George Burrows (33) with the Island outfit eventually setting a score of 114-5 over the ten overs to beat.

Meanwhile, Donaustadt - despite seeing batsman Baseer Khan put out a positive solo runs display of 42 - came up against some consistent Crosby bowling.

Rich Tarr, George Newton, Chris Langford and Edward Walker all took two wickets each as Crosby edged to a last-gasp one run win with Donaustadt posting 113-6 over ten overs.

It marked a morale-boosting turnaround from earlier in the day which had seen the Manx team beaten by Guernsey-based outfit Independents by seven wickets.

After completing all four group matches, Crosby finish fifth in Group F with a record of one victory and three defeats.
