Athletics: Corrin makes Manx history in long-jump

Athlete sets new long-jump benchmark in Sheffield

Isle of Man athlete Regan Corrin has made history during competition in Yorkshire at the weekend.

Whilst contesting the Northern Athletics Senior, U20 and U17 Indoor Championships in Sheffield on Sunday (14 January) Corrin set the furthest ever long-jump distance by a Manx athlete.

Having fouled his first two jumps, Corrin then managed a distance of 6.94 metres to take the U20's men's long jump gold medal.

It surpasses the Isle of Man outdoor long-jump record set by Phil Riley at the 2007 Island Games in Rhodes by two centimetres.

During last year, Corrin had also impressed in high-jump competition - taking gold in the men's high jump at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey in July as well as the England Athletics U15 & U17 Championships in Birmingham in August.
