There are multiple weather warnings in place today (6 April) as Storm Kathleen hits the Island.

Ronaldsway Met Office has issued an amber warning for coastal overtopping around the times of high tide (10.25am and 10.52pm).

It's due to gale force southerly winds hitting exposed locations.

This is likely to affect Castletown promenade, Shore Road (Gansey) and Douglas promenade, and to a lesser extent Ramsey and Laxey Promenades.

The amber warning is in place until midnight on Sunday 7 April.

Meanwhile, a yellow warning is in place until 9pm this evening for rain and those severe gales.

We're told to expect gusts of around 60mph in places.

Travel disruption is likely, with some minor damage possible before winds ease during the evening.

Forecasters say gales in April occur, on average, once every two or three years.

TRAVEL

An airline servicing the Isle of Man is offering those with travel plans the opportunity to swap flights without further charge.

Loganair says the decision follows the implementation of yellow weather warnings across the UK and Isle of Man.

Alongside Ronaldsway, it says it's expecting disruption to flights to and from: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Campbeltown, Islay, Tiree, Liverpool, Barra, Manchester, Cardiff, Exeter, Cornwall Airport Newquay, Belfast City and City of Derry Airport.

The airline says the easiest way to change your flights is through the 'Manage My Booking' page.

Meanwhile, all of today's easyJet departures have already been cancelled.

Looking to the sea, the majority of sailings this weekend are being affected by the weather.

Four are already cancelled today (as of 6.30am), whilst three this evening are subject to possible disruption or cancellation.

That's the case for all sailings tomorrow and Monday too.

You can keep up to date on the status of your sailing HERE.

COMMUNITY

As a result of the weather conditions, a number of events are off today, and businesses have had to close.

They include several local football fixtures, and FC Isle of Man's latest clash, which was due to take place at the Bowl this evening.
