UK roadworker fined after threatening to assault bar staff

40-year-old told worker: "I'll punch your teeth in"

A Birmingham man has been fined £900 after threatening to assault a member of a staff in a bar.

Paul George Truman, of Cheverton Road, became ‘belligerent’ after he was refused service at Jaks Bar and Smokehouse on Wednesday (9 August).

The 40-year-old told the staff member: “Let’s go outside. I’ll punch your f****** teeth in.”

At Douglas Courthouse he admitted being disorderly on licensed premises.

The court was told the incident happened just before 12.30am with the prosecutor adding: “It’s probably one of those cases where it’s drink in, sense out.”

Truman, who was shown the CCTV of his behaviour by police, was said to be ‘shocked’ and ‘disappointed’ by his behaviour.

His advocate told the court he’d been on the Island to carry out roadworks and had been out with colleagues adding: “He wishes to apologise to everyone involved.”

Fining Truman, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £125, Magistrates told him: “Clearly you had too much to drink.

“You must understand that this type of behaviour won’t be tolerated on the Isle of Man.”

They added that Truman would only be released from custody when the financial penalty had been paid in full.
