A disaster which has cast a long shadow over generations of Islanders will be the focus of a National Service of Remembrance in August.
The catastrophic fire at the Summerland entertainment complex on the 2nd of August 1973 claimed fifty lives.
As the Island prepares to mark the 50th anniversary of the disaster, the government is reaching out to survivors and members of victims' families to seek their views on how the Island commemorates the tragic event.
Chief Minister, Alfred Cannan, says the Summerland fire continues to resonate for survivors and the relatives of those who died.
The National Service of Remembrance will take place at St Georges Church, Douglas at 4pm on Sunday the 30th of July.
Mr Cannan hopes that even if people are unable to attend in person they can make contact and allow the team to tell them about the event and other tributes.
In addition to the service a presentation will be made to the emergency and hospital services on the following day in recognition of their response to the disaster and supporting those affected.
