Duo found in a perilous location
Port Erin Coastguard has described the rescue of a dog, and its owner, from the cliffs at Bradda Head today (29 January) as 'far too close' for their liking.
At 1pm the team was called out to assist the duo who'd been left cold and shaken in a 'perilous location' with 'next to no footings'.
The man had used his dog whistle to alert rescuers to his location.
After locating the pair, a cliff technician was deployed and secured Rum the dog to safety first followed by his owner.
The coastguard says while dogs are part of the family people are encouraged to alert authorities of dangerous situations rather than trying to make the rescue themselves without safety gear.
