Review chair reassures of its independence from government

Kate Brunner KC on track to publish findings by end of 2023

People considering taking part in the Covid Review are being reassured of its independence from government.

Kate Brunner KC, who's chairing the review, has issued an update saying: "I am not acting for, or against, Government: I am reviewing Government's actions in an impartial way."

She says witnesses can share information confidentially, and has confirmed all material gathered "is stored on a database which Government and the public do not have access to."

The update says the review is on track to publish its findings by the end of December.

Justice and Home Affairs minister, Jane Poole-Wilson MHK, has confirmed that whenever government issues a 'cease and desist' letter, it doesn't intend to restrict recipients' cooperation with the Review.
