Residents in favour of 20mph zones in Douglas Central

But Living Streets Scheme needs funding to be approved

Responses to a consultation into traffic calming measures in Douglas Central show the majority of people would be in favour of new 20mph zones.

The feedback has been published online, and follows petitions from residents in 2020 calling for improved road safety around the residential areas and Ballakermeen High School.

Fifty-seven per cent of respondents also said they approved of new pedestrian crossings.

But Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas says, until funding is confirmed, the Living Streets Scheme is going nowhere:

The Department of Infrastructure says: "The Department would like to thank everyone who took the time to contribute to the consultation exercise. The feedback will be assessed with the aim of developing a Living Streets Scheme for the area, and it is hoped that design work will take place later this year."

Results in full from the consultation can be seen HERE.
