Questions on Nautilus and Liverpool Ferry Terminal in Tynwald

Members return for the first sitting of 2024

Meetings about the Steam Packet dispute and the Liverpool Ferry Terminal feature on this month’s Tynwald question paper.

There are two starred questions, which gives them priority.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover asks the Treasury Minister about meetings with the Nautilus union, and when the Chief Minister Alfred Cannan was also present.

Other questions on the paper ask about the total cost of the new ferry - that's from Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew's Jason Moorhouse asks how many workers are living on board the Manxman, and also wants to know how much this accommodation is costing.

The second priority question, from Garff MHK Daphne Caine, is on building costs associated with Tramway Terrace and how retention of the building can be ensured.

Another question from Mr Moorhouse asks about attendance levels at schools.

Speaker Juan Watterson is to ask about the recently published SYSTRA report on the Island's heritage railways.

And Mrs Caine follows that up with inquiries about challenges to assumptions in that SYSTRA report.

Today's Tynwald sitting gets underway at 10am.

You can listen live on Manx Radio AM1368, DAB, online and on smartphone apps.
