Overall cost of Manxman confirmed as £80m

Additional £2m spent on costs to get boat into service

The final cost of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's flagship vessel Manxman has been revealed.

Treasury Minister Alex Allinson told Tynwald this morning (16 January) the project - to date - has been completed at a total cost of £80m, with final adjustments likely as part of company's upcoming year-end processes.

The projected cost for delivery of the ship to Douglas was £78m:

Tynwald had previously approved an overall budget for the project of £84m.

Dr Allinson confirmed the additional two million was spent on items such as cutlery and crockery for the vessel, and costs associated with training and fuel to get her here.

It was also revealed that engineers are currently on-Island from South Korea trying to 'address the vibration problems' on the ship:
