31-year-old 'irate' after fight in town centre
A Douglas woman will be sentenced in October after fighting with another woman in Strand Street.
Katie Francis O’Brien, of Drury Terrace, admitted causing her to believe she was at risk of immediate, unlawful violence on 9 August.
At Douglas Courthouse she also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer with the intention of resisting arrest.
The court heard the 31-year-old had called 999 after a fight broke out, between her and another woman, in the town centre just before 11am – there were between 20 to 30 members of the public in the vicinity.
O’Brien was said to become ‘irate’ during the arrest process and began swearing at two officers – as they were placing her in handcuffs she kicked one of them in the shin; in interview she said she’d done it out of ‘frustration’.
A social enquiry report has been requested before she is sentenced on 5 October; bail was granted until that date.
