Normal Steam Packet sailings look set from Wednesday night

Union says it's now entered into discussions to solve the ongoing dispute over live onboard

It appears normal Steam Packet sailings will resume from Wednesday night. (10 January)

Earlier this week, the ferry operator introduced a reduced passenger timetable because of an ongoing dispute with the Nautilus Union over proposals for officers to live onboard the Manxman.

Last month, union members started industrial action short of a strike which led to the Steam Packet only being able to offer one day-time sailing from the Isle of Man to Heysham instead of the normal two.

However discussions are set to resume on 15 January and last night (5 January) Nautilus announced it would be ending the action after the Steam Packet withdrew the threat of fire and hire.

In response the Company said it looked forward to reinstating full service with the Manxman, and while no official update has been issued, their website shows evening sailings to Heysham available from the middle of next week.
