Dr Fox part of panel that 'set the agenda' for climate as we know today
The line-up for University College Isle of Man's research festival has been announced, with the theme stemming from sustainability.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan is expected to open the event, which will be followed by a keynote speech by Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr Douglas Fox.
Dr Fox formed part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which won the award in 2007 alongside Al Gore for "efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change".
Various presentations are being given throughout the event including 'Manx Blue Carbon, 'Renewable Electric Grid Simulation' and 'Seagrass Conservation' among others.
Meanwhile, talks are also being held on other items such as 'Awesome Manx Women', all the way to how artificial intelligence challenges educational settings with 'Chatbot vs Librarian'.
UCM's Higher Education Manager Gail Corrin told Manx Radio more about the day:
The festival is taking place on Friday 13 October, entry is free but registration in advance is required.
