New chief executive for Isle of Man Government confirmed

Andy Ralphs appointed to the role

The new chief executive of the Isle of Man Government has been announced.

Andy Ralphs has been appointed by the Public Services Commission.

His appointment was revealed as part of the chief minister's mid-term statement to Tynwald today (17 October).

The chief executive officer is the most senior civil servant in government - serving as the principal adviser to the Lieutenant Governor, the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers, and leads the Public Service.

Mr Ralphs will take up his role at the start of November and will relocate to the Island.

He will take over from Caldric Randall, who returns to the Treasury as chief financial officer, having served as chief executive on an interim basis.

Alf Cannan said: "Mr Ralphs will bring a fresh perspective to the important role of leading the public sector on the Island. He will be moving to live on the Island with his family and will be commencing the role next month.

"I am sure all honourable members will wish to join with me in wishing him every success in leading the public sector in its delivery for people and implementing the political agenda we all have a role in establishing."

Elsewhere, as previously announced, Dr Megan Mathias will begin leading the Cabinet Office as their chief operating officer in November; Scott Gallacher has started in the role as chief officer for DEFA, and Paul Richardson will be the chief officer for DHSC.
