New airport trolleys cost £24,000+

DoI claims some of cost will be offset against advertising

More than £24,000 has been spent on new luggage trolleys for the Isle of Man Airport.

The Department of Infrastructure has bought 200 – it’s the first time they’ve been purchased in 10 years.

Trolley bays in front of the terminal are being adjusted to ensure they fit – the DoI says this is being done at ‘no additional cost’.

It also claims that the bays in the car parks ‘need no adjustment’ – something that’s been disputed by residents on social media; one has posted a video showing they don’t fit.

The total cost of the trollies was £24,400 plus VAT – the department adds that ‘in the near future’ some of this cost will be offset against advertising.

At least five years of ‘good service’ is expected from each trolley; the working parts are guaranteed for two years.
