More information on future of Cummal Mooar next week?

Manx Care says it will schedule a series of meetings

Further information about the future of a residential home in Ramsey could be provided next week.

Manx Care says it will schedule a series of meetings about Cummal Mooar for residents, their families and staff.

It comes after the health body announced that the existing plans for the facility’s replacement were being scrapped and the home would be closed within two years.

That was something disputed by the health and social care minister who claimed it was his department’s position that it should stay open until something else was constructed.

Cummal Mooar residents, and their loved ones, were originally invited to a meeting on 23 August – almost a month after they were told their home was earmarked for closure.

This was then cancelled due to Manx Care staff being on annual leave.

In a statement, provided to Manx Radio, the health body said: "Manx Care is continuing discussions with colleagues, residents and families of those at Cummal Mooar regarding the future of the residential home and a series of meetings will be scheduled next week to provide further updates.

"A further statement will be issued by DHSC and Manx Care next week."

No specific details of when the meetings will take place have been provided.

Manx Care also chose not to respond to questions about whether it had paused the decommissioning of the Cummal Mooar building.
