Manxman to start with daytime-only sailings

No date set for service to begin

It's not yet known when the Steam Packet's new flagship Manxman will enter service, but when it does it's set to begin with daytime-only sailings.

The new vessel will eventually take over the Ben-my-Chree on the Heysham route entirely, but initially will only operate the 8:45am sailing, and the return sailing at 2:15pm.

The company says this is to give the new boat's crew a 'greater opportunity to maximise training and familiarisation'.

The Steam Packet says: 'passengers booked to travel over the summer months may see Ben-my-Chree or Manxman as the vessel named on their tickets'.

Due to the 'complex and not entirely predictable nature of commissioning and readying for service a brand new vessel', it says 'there is no guarantee that Manxman will operate any particular sailing, and there may be last minute changes of vessel with no notice.'

It's enabled the purchase of full on-board facilities for all sailings to Ben-my-Chree capacity limits up to 31 August.

Additional capacity will be released to Manxman limits as soon as the first sailing date is confirmed.
