Manx Care warns of impact of England nursing strike

Contingency plans being put in place at linked hospitals across

Manx Care is warning that planned strike action by nurses in England could have an impact on certain services.

The Royal College of Nursing members across are taking part in industrial action from 8pm on Sunday evening until 11:59pm on Monday.

While Isle of Man nurses are not part of the strike plans, it's warned patients from the Island with appointments across could be impacted.

Manx Care says 'the potential risk of serious disruption in England is high, and contingency plans are being put in place across its linked hospitals in Cheshire and Merseyside in order to minimise the risk of patient harm.'

It also warns the provision of emergency services could be compromised during this time, meaning some specialist emergency pathways for people who have suffered a significant injury or adverse medical event may not be available.

In that event, Manx Care says patients may be transferred to locations outside of the North West and their families will be supported to travel to the UK in order to visit loved ones.

Anyone with concerns is asked to contact the Manx Care Advice and Liaison Service Team.
