Manannan crossings will all take longer than normal
Passengers travelling to and from Liverpool today by sea will see their journeys take longer than normal.
The Steam Packet’s schedule shows Manannan will need more than three hours to complete each trip.
It usually operates with a sailing time of two hours 45 minutes.
However this morning’s departure to Liverpool at 7.15am won’t arrive until 10.45am.
The return leg, at 11.45am, is scheduled to get back to Douglas at 3.15pm.
This afternoon’s 4.15pm sailing to the North West city will arrive at 7.45pm with the return leg to the Island at 8.45pm – which won’t arrive here until 12.15am tomorrow morning (10 September).
Manx Radio has asked the Steam Packet to clarify why the vessel is running with a delay.
In a statement it said: "Isle of Man Steam Packet Company vessel Manannan is operating on reduced power after suffering a technical issue with one engine.
"The issue is currently under investigation by engineers. The cause has not yet been conclusively identified.
"Crossing times will be up to 45 minutes longer than originally scheduled depending on tidal conditions.
"Passengers are reminded of the importance of checking in for sailings no later than advised to help ensure potential delays are kept to a minimum."
