Liverpool Ferry Terminal: 'no one would have undertaken this project knowing final cost'

Chief minister discusses spiraling costs of Merseyside site

The chief minister says no one would have embarked on the Liverpool Ferry Terminal project had they known what it would come to cost.

So far the new docking site on Merseyside has cost the Manx taxpayer £75 million - a figure set to grow, with Treasury in the process of asking Tynwald for an extra £10 million.

Alfred Cannan, who is currently acting Infrastructure Minister, says there needs to be a review once the project is finished:

Mr Cannan says he believes there were a number of opportunities to abort the project before costs spiraled.
