Manx officers acting as independent external force
Police officers from the Isle of Man are travelling to Gibraltar to take over the investigation of the death of a man in hospital a day after he was tasered.
They're expected to arrive today (23 June) and, along with colleagues from Guernsey, will be sworn in as constables.
The team of four officers was appointed after the Royal Gibraltar Police approached the UK's National Police Coordination Centre and the Small Island Forum for assistance.
Incidents like this are normally independently investigated by an external force.
The squad consists of senior and deputy investigating officers plus two detectives.
They'll report to the Coroner, who has already opened an investigation into the death, plus the Commissioner of Police.
The un-named 55-year-old man died in St Bernard's Hospital in Gibraltar on Monday the day after he'd been restrained by officers.
A post-mortem will also take place to establish the cause of death.
