Inquest into 71-year-old's death opened

Investigations are continuing after a Foxdale man died after falling out of a window at his home.
The inquest into the death of Paul Hindley was opened at Douglas Courthouse on Monday (26 February).
Emergency services were called to the 71-year-old’s property, on Archallagan Terrace, just after 7am on 15 February.
The retired joiner, who suffered from Parkinson’s and dementia, was found by his wife lying across the steps of the neighbouring property; he’d suffered a significant head injury.
Coroner of Inquests Rachael Braidwood said Mr Hindley has last been seen at 11pm the previous evening when he’d gone to bed; at 6.30am the next day his bedroom door was still closed.
Police at the scene found a patch of blood underneath his window and determined he’d fallen from it no more than three hours before he was found.
Mr Hindley’s cause of death was given as head and chest injuries.
Releasing his body, so that funeral arrangements can take place, and adjourning proceedings Coroner Braidwood offered her condolences to his family.
The inquest will be reconvened in due course.
