Fire crews delayed attending structure fire where dog was missing

Parked cars meant response time was impacted

Fire crews from Peel called out to a structure fire in the west of the Island yesterday say they were delayed by the parking of vehicles in the area.

Once on the scene, four officers wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to search for a dog, missing on the site, and locate and fight the fire.

It was quickly extinguished and the search team located the missing dog who was brought to fresh air where crews administered oxygen therapy using specialist equipment provided by Paws For Therapy Isle of Man. The ManxSPCA transferred the dog to the vet.

The Fire and Rescue Service asks that people please give consideration to the emergency services when parking vehicles to ensure response times aren't impacted.

The fate of the rescued dog is unconfirmed.
