Education Minister: 'Relationships with unions have improved'

250 teaching staff took strike action in last academic year

Relationships between teaching unions and the education department on the Isle of Man have improved.

That's according to the minister - as schools prepare for the start of the new academic year tomorrow (6 September).

More than 250 teaching staff downed tools over three days in the last school year calling for better pay and improved staff retention. 

However, Julie Edge says talks are progressing between the NASUWT and her department.

But, with the school bell just hours away from signalling the start of the new term, does the possibility of industrial action remain?
