The containers are costly to maintain for the charity
Douglas Council has repaired bins used to support beach cleaning efforts by an Island-based charity.
The local authority says Beach Buddies have the containers along the promenade and have been a 'success story' since they were installed.
Founder of the charity, Bill Dale, said the maintenance on its bins can be costly and the council support has been 'invaluable'.
The council says the bins have a 'positive impact' on the beach environment and its staff undertook the work and covered the cost for Beach Buddies.
Mr Dale also said: "Beach Buddies has a really good relationship with Douglas City Council, which spans back many years. Our sponsored bins on Douglas Promenade have been a significant success story.
"All of our bins around the Island require regular repairs and maintenance, which can be very costly. Therefore, having Douglas City Council support us by repairing the bins in Douglas is invaluable and greatly appreciated."
Councillor Falk Horning, Chair of Environmental Services Committee said: "We are pleased to have been able to support Beach Buddies in undertaking the necessary repairs. We recognise the fantastic work that Beach Buddies does to keep Douglas and the rest of the Island's beaches clean. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and supporting their efforts in the future."
