Department unable to progress Crogga application until laws are in place
Options to update laws to allow a company to look for gas deposits off the Island's coast are being considered.
The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed it's looking into the provision of legislation to enable a Well Operator Application to be determined.
The DoI says it doesn't yet have the relevant legislative regulations in place to determine an application to accredit contractors to undertake well operations in Isle of Man Waters.
It comes following a Tynwald written question from Douglas North MHK David Ashford, seeking an update on when the accreditation is expected to be determined.
Crogga recently revealed it was returning money to investors because government was yet to put in place legislation allowing drilling to take place.
The Department has confirmed Crogga has submitted an application, but says the company is aware it cannot be processed until the legislation is in place.
