Court for man accused of stabbing prison officer with dart

26-year-old charged with assault ABH

Committal proceedings in the case against a man accused of stabbing a prison officer with a dart will take place next month.

Aaron Lee Barnett, who is currently care of the Isle of Man Prison, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where he was told his case will be elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on 12 December.

The 26-year-old has been accused of assaulting the guard and causing him actual bodily harm on 31 July; a charge of wounding with intent to assault was withdrawn.  

There was no application for bail.

 

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 19 December committal proceedings, where the case was elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, took place; the 26-year-old will next appear before that court on a date to be set.
