Residents are urged to report any damage or suspicious behaviour to the authority

Castletown Commissioners says its town hall toilets will remain closed due to ongoing 'wilful damage' to the facilities.

In a statement the authority says the vandalism involves the 'destruction' of soap dispensers, toilet mechanisms and 'intentional' toilet blocking to cause fires and floods.

The commissioners add the damage generally happens over the weekends but the Quayside toilets are closed due to an incident that happened overnight.

It's also urging residents to report damage or 'suspicious activity' to the commissioners or the Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Public Toilet provision remains in place on the Quayside and Adjacent to the Tennis Courts and it is anticipated that the Town Hall Toilets will again be available out of hours once more robust fittings have been implemented and seasonal staffing level allows for more frequent attendance by staff.

Reports of these incidents are submitted to the neighbourhood policing team for investigation, however if you encounter any damage, or see any suspicious activity in any of our public toilets please consider reporting it to the Town Hall by calling 825005 and leaving a voice mail or emailing clerk@castletown.gov.im

We are acutely aware of the need for public toilet access in the Town centre and apologise for current situation. The Commissioners have signed another short term licence from the DOI with regard the Quayside toilets and hope to have these transferred the town and upgraded as soon as possible.
