Braddan Bridge to stay shut overnight but reopen for weekend

The one-way system will stay in place

Braddan Bridge will not close this weekend, the Department of Infrastructure has confirmed.

The one-way system will remain in place, running along the section of Peel Road, past Douglas Rugby Club.

It says plans to asphalt at the Jubilee Oak yesterday were 'thwarted by the damp conditions' but as today's weather is much better the last section of surfacing work can be done.

The junction will then have to stay closed overnight to allow the asphalt to cool and harden before reopening at around 8am tomorrow (Saturday 27 January).

It is planned to complete line marking next week.

However, the department says the current temporary traffic order in place for the area may need to be 'slightly extended' if the Island is struck with bad weather over the next few days.

The current order expires at the end of the working day on Wednesday (31 January) of next week, but the line marking needs a relatively dry surface to be successfully applied.
