Air quality monitoring sites to be boosted during two year trial

Data to be collected from 60 areas

The number of sites where air quality is monitored around the Island will be significantly increased as part of a two-year trial by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.

Nineteen sites are regularly monitored in Douglas but this will grow to 60 across the Island.

It's part of government's commitment to review its approach to ensuring clean air, watercourses and bathing water as outlined in the Island Plan.

Small diffusion tubes will be installed on lamp posts at each location and the data collected will be published each month on the government website.
