Schools 'unsure' if new facilities have had an impact
Government has spent just over £163,000 (£163,096.40) on bike shelters around the Island's schools since 2016.
The figure has been revealed by the infrastructure minister in a Tynwald Written Answer, following a question from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.
Minister, Chris Thomas, says cycle shelters have been installed at five secondary and nine primary schools on the Island since 2018 - as part of the Active Travel Strategy.
Something else Jason Moorhouse wanted to know was how many students were actually using the facilities, but Mr Thomas says they have no record of that figure.
Through surveys, however, two primary schools say the cycle storage has had a positive impact on the number of pupils cycling in, while two secondary schools say they're 'unsure'.
