Vagabonds secure first home victory of season against Bury

Douglas’ final fixture in Regional 2 North West ended in a 25-17 win against Firwood Waterloo. With rivals Wilmslow and Broughton Park both failing to win, Douglas are safe from relegation for this season and can look forward to regrouping over the summer ahead of next season.

Rob Todd, Kyle Martin and Sam McCord all went over for Douglas in the first half and with Bryn Snellgrove converting two and adding a penalty they led 22-5 at half-time. Waterloo fought back after the break but a Bryn Snellgrove penalty steadied the Douglas ship and allowed them to hang on for the win.

Vagabonds win

Vagabonds secured their first home win of the season beating Bury 24-5 in their very last game.

The match was switched to The Mooragh due to snow on the Ballafletcher pitch but that didn’t put Vagas off their stride. 

Steve Gawne and Dan Bonwick both picked up first half tries for Vagabonds and a Cam Findlay conversion saw them 12-0 in front at the break. Gawne grabbed his second after the interval and Mark Oldfield went in for his side’s fourth and a bonus point. Ethan Marsh scored late on to give Bury a deserved consolation try.

The win moves Vagas off the bottom of the Counties 3 ADM Lancs/Cheshire table and their nearest rivals, Port Sunlight, lost their final game meaning Vagas don't finish bottom but must wait for the league organising committee to determine how many go down.

Nomads win in Manx Trophy

Southern Nomads Whites beat Ramsey Blues & Western Vikings 59-15 at Ballakilley Park in the Ravenscroft Manx Trophy. 

Josh Smith, Django Kinley and Jack Sleight all picked up two each for Nomads with other tries coming from Orry Watterson, Rob Alston and Sam Kennaugh. 

Mark Young kicked five conversions. Jared May picked up a try for Ramsey.
