Cycling: Cycling Club Isle of Man debuts at Ras Mumhan

Leeming bags top-five finish during four-stage event

A top-five finish for Corrin Leeming was among the highlights for Cycling Club Isle of Man (CC IoM) which made its debut at the Ras Mumhan over the Easter weekend.

Four riders - Leeming, Cameron Jeffers, Callum Salisbury and Conor McKinnon - formed the Manx team, coached by former World Pro Tour cyclist Chris Lawless, taking part in the Irish race held from Good Friday (29 March) to Easter Monday (1 April).

A positive start saw the outfit finish within the top-15 on the opening two stages - firstly taking 14th spot in the opening team time trial.

The following road race saw Leeming cross the line in 13th with Salisbury not far behind in 16th.

A tougher second stage came after with Cycling Club Isle of Man unable to make inroads at the front of the pack - Leeming again was the highest finisher for the Island team in 35th, over seven minutes behind eventual stage winner Daire Feeley of All Human - Velo Revolution.

Fortunes improved once more though on stage three as Leeming earned the Manx team's highest finish of fifth on the phase from Newstreet to Hillmarket with Salisbury also impressing again in 15th whilst Jeffers also claimed a spot inside the top 40 riders.

The standout performance for CC IoM in the fourth and final phase starting and finishing in Killorglin was a 16th place finish for Jeffers less than 20 seconds behind stage winner, Trinity Racing's Joe Pidcock.
