The number of people registered as unemployed in the Isle of Man is heading towards the 900 mark.
Government figures for July put the total at 890, representing 2.1 per cent of the economically active population.
The July total was 44 up on the June figure, and consisted of 633 men and 257 women.
Last month a total of 575 vacancies were notified to the job centre in Douglas, and at the end of July just over 300 positions were still vacant and held on file.
Sixty-eight more people are without work than this time last year, but the number of claiments under the age of 18 is down 14.
The number of people with work permits claiming benefit is 15, which is three fewer than in July 2010.
