Welsh traders avoid tax using Manx structures
The Isle of Man will feature on TV this week – when small businesses from a Welsh town ape multinationals who set up here to avoid UK tax.
The Town That Took On The Taxman, will be shown on BBC2 at 9pm on Wednesday, following business owners from Crickhowell as they discover how large companies use offshore jurisdictions to minimise their tax bills.
They came to the Isle of Man last year to set up similar tax structures after one cafe owner paid £137,000 corporation tax over five years.
He claims over the same period, a high street corporate firm paid nothing by using offshore structures.
