Bogus publications warning issued to businesses

Local businesses are being targeted by bogus police publications.

Several firms have been contacted and offered the chance to buy advertising space in United Kingdom journals, claiming links with the Manx force.

However, the Isle of Man Constabulary says that isn't true.

Police say they have worked with UK based companies to produce policing related publications in the past, but are not doing so at the moment. That means any company claiming links to the Manx force is lying and isn't working on their behalf.

There is a reminder that no one should ever disclose any financial information during a cold call, and before any offer is accepted, full details should be requested in writing.

Further information is available from the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading, on 686500.
