What did Prison Chaplain Rev'd Katy Canty learn from her time 'inside' ? And we re-visit the ale house that tricked the Press Gang - and became a church!
At Your Service - Manx Radio
Sunday, 21 July 2024 - 31 minutes
Rev'd Katy Canty is a teacher, an ordained priest in the Anglican Church, a wife, a mother and an author. She's also worked for 14 years as chaplain in a Liverpool prison, and joins us on the programme this week to share what she's learned from her time 'inside'
She also explains how retirement from prison chaplaincy led to another role - this time working with chaplains in all walks of Liverpool life.
And a visit to the Manx Radio Archive Room uncovers the history of the Colby Ale House that fooled a Press Gang, was turned into three cottages, and then became Belle Abbey Chapel - remaining a place of worship until 2016, when the wheel of change came almost full circle, and the chapel became a private house.
There's notice board news too - and music.
