Woodland memorial unveiled in Onchan

Remembering WWI fallen

A woodland memorial has been officially opened in Onchan, recognising the lives of the 1,267 Manx people who died during World War One.

It's been made possible by a donation from Tesco's 'Bags of Help' initiative.

Situated in a meadow behind homes at the top of Birch Hill estate, the Royal British Legion supported facility was opened during a short ceremony attended by school children, the Archdeacon Andrew Brown and Lieutenant Governor, Sir Richard Gozney.
