At Your Service

Sunday, 19 February 2023 - 32 minutes

This week, it's Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and the start of the six weeks of Lent, leading up to the great celebration of Easter - the feast at the very heart of the Christian faith ..... but what do these days, which have their origin in ancient times, have to say to us today? We'll offer some answers on the programme today.
And just how deeply do we love?
Amazing things have been achieved over the centuries, through the power of love ..... special guest Cheryl Cousins - a member of the Island's Environment Action Group - talks about the We Care campaign that's launched this month- an initiative not just of the EAG, which is chaired by Dr Tony Thick, the Diocesan Eco Officer, but also supported by Churches Together in Mann, Biosphere IoM and other eco and community groups on the Island.
The WE CARE workshop is on Friday 24 February in the Cathedral in Peel, open from 10.30am to 4pm with crafts and activities for all ages, and refreshments too.  No need to book, and there's no charge (although donations would be welcome - thank you!)
For more information - see the website www.eag.im
And more details of the 'Lives to Inspire' Lent course also mentioned in today's programme can be found either by emailing course leader Rev Dr Janet Corlett on districtchair@methodist.org.im or by visiting the website - https://www.onlineprayer.net/saints/
Today's programme includes music by Paul Field and John Rutter - and there's notice board news too - the first of this year's Lent Lunches start this week!
