Learn from UK social services mistakes - Speaker

The Isle of Man needs to learn from the mistakes of the UK's social services, according to the Speaker of the House of Keys.

Steve Rodan MHK is part of a social affairs parliamentary scrutiny committee which presented its first report to be debated in Tynwald yesterday.

The report - 'Over-Referral and Under-Preparedness' - makes eight recommendations regarding the improvement of child protection on the Island.

Mr Rodan says the number of reported cases of child abuse here is very similar to the UK.
