Island meets tax standards: Treasury Minister

The Treasury Minister has brushed off hostile comments from the Labour leader and says the Island should be proud of its record on cooperation and transparency.

Ed Miliband says if Labour is voted into power in May, he'll impose a six month deadline on crown dependencies and offshore territories - such as the Isle of Man - to 'show him the books'.

Labour's claiming up to £5 billion is being lost to the UK exchequer through evasion and avoidance of tax in offshore financial centres.

However, Eddie Teare says the Island complies with international standards on tax transparency and has nothing to hide.

And he insists the Isle of Man is helping create jobs and revenue in the UK.
