MLC's concerns over lack of balance

An MLC is calling for a national debate on the role religion plays in the Island's schools.

Speaking ahead of her Tynwald question, Kerry Sharpe has raised concerns of what she says is a lack of balance in faith representation outside of R.E. classes.

Mrs Sharpe says guest speakers for school assemblies are predominantly Christian in her experience as a parent.

With a redrafting of the Education Bill underway, she feels debate is vital to reflect Manx society.
