Hockey results for Saturday, January 20
Valkyrs A turned back the clock of a few years ago to take a point off the reigning champions on Saturday.
The westerners showed the form which once made them regular title contenders by holding Bacchas A to a 2-2 draw in the PwC Men’s Premier Division.
Juan Killey and Chris Caldwell strikes, countered by Tony Bentley Roberts and Andy Whiting for Bacchas, ensured a share of the spoils.
Vikings A have a point lead at the top after a 5-1 success over Ramsey A, courtesy of a Tom Wilson hat-trick and goals from Steven Crowe and Juan Corlett.
The other top flight match was a close affair.
Bacchas B edged out Vikings B – Callum Robb scored the only goal of the game after a spell of intense pressure.
In the PwC Women’s Premier League, champions Vikings A made it three wins out of three.
They were in rampant form, scoring eight goals in the first half without reply before adding three more in the second period.
The dominant figures were Kim Carney and Kirsty Cooper who hit five and four respectively and were joined on the scoresheet by Georgia Foxton and Sarah Blackman.
Vikings have yet to concede a goal or short corner in their first three matches.
Bacchas A thrashed Harlequins A 8-0.
Freya Duchars (two), Kathryn Craine (two), Sophie Hudson (two), Ellie Pearson and Emma Courtie were the women on target.
A Karmina Kovanda hat-trick helped Valkrys A to a 7-1 success over Ramsey A.
Ellen Cleator, Maxine Smalley, Rebecca Pate and Emily Kelly netted the others for Valkyrs.
